Female Torso II

The full story of the initial ‘Female Torso’ I made is told under ‘Female Torso I’ - and rather than repeat it here, this is an evolution of the same sculpture, but this time plated in copper,

The basic idea I am working with is ‘constancy & change in nature’ - that’s something you’ll read a lot on this website - so in 2012, at art college, I was exploring this idea, and it struck me that many figurative sculptures are solid - which evokes a perception of permanence -and yet all of nature is always changing.

The aesthetic created by layering my work is one of change and impermanence - so the sculpture is both constant, and changes.
