in the paddock

I loved making this sculpture. It was a commission from an organisation based at the UK home of flat horseracing – Newmarket.

I worked in horseracing for 12 years when I was younger, so there is a familiarity to the dynamic of that world. It was great to re-connect with old friends and colleagues.

This sculpture is based on a particular jockey. I was asked to change his face to make him unrecognisable but anyone who knows flat racing will know him – he has a very particular way of standing!

If you have someone you would like to capture in a very unique way, please feel free to contact me directly to discuss.
