arabian horse drinking
I had an enquiry from the president of the Kuwait Arab Horse breeders association to make a sculpture of an Arabian Horse drinking, so I contacted a client who I knew had an Arabian Horse stud farm in the UK to ask if I could use his horses as models.
The sketches in this section are a small sample of ones I made at the time to understand the characteristics of a classic Arabian stallion head – which I then modelled in wax, and then using my layering technique I created this stainless-steel version.
When I showed it to the client with the Arabian stud, he was interested to have a version made for his flat in London – but he wanted it large! I arranged for a team to come and scan the interior space of the flat so we could create a visualisation of how it might look – in copper. The visualisation is among the videos.
The smaller, stainless steel version I made ultimately went to auction for the benefit of the Peter O’Sullivan Memorial trust where it raised £25,000 for this great cause.
