KISS was one of my first abstract sculptures. It was also the first one that I changed to become kinetic. It is called KISS because there is one small part where the steel ribbon kisses.

Initially people perceive the sculpture as two distinct bands of steel ribbon, but it is actually one continuous strand. It is part of my investigation into Constancy and Change in nature – it is a form in itself and it also frames the views beyond, and as it moves – or the viewer moves – the nature of the framed view changes too.

I have made it in 3 sizes – This is number 3 - the small-size, and initially I made it as a fixed form but subsequently I changed it so that it would rotate. It now has bearing systems inside to allow this, and it also has a motor that generates constant movement.

KISS became the inspiration for the larger ‘Metamorphosis’
