I first made this sculpture when my father was close to dying in June 2014. He had cancer.

He was a good man. Kind, generous and funny. He gave of himself, and was loved by many. I don’t have the words to explain why it was this particular form I created at the time, but I hope there is a sense of nurture and openness. That would reflect who he was to me.
