two circles
This sculpture came about as result of a commission (Two Circles I) – which had been inspired by ‘Octave Circle’.
Around about the time I completed ‘Two Circles I’, I was contacted by Oundle School about creating a sculpture to acknowledge a good number of people and organisations who had contributed funding for a new sports centre at the school.
Former pupils at the school are collectively referred to as ‘OO’s’ (Old Oundelians) – so the two circle idea resonated. It was also possible to include the names of contributors on the base of the sculpture – in a manner that could be edited and updated if necessary.
‘Two Circles II’ now sits outside the Sports centre, and is regularly ‘spun’ by passing pupils!
Two Circles III (shown here) started as an elevated version of ‘I’, but it is motorised so it is permanently changing.
