This is one of my favourite sculptures. It is based on Stubb’s ‘Whistlejacket’ and adapted to be a unicorn – and in 3 dimensions.

I made a really big version of the same idea in 2010 from recycled coca cola cans (see ‘Sam’ under recycled sculptures). Having worked with horses when I was young, it is an idea I am always happy to return to, and I love each stage of the creation of this one. It is clay with brown shoe polish! I never got it cast but if I could get it back I would make a cast of it.
